Central Power Systems & Services Inc. Settles For $50,500
In January 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Central Power Systems & Services Inc. (Central Power), with its principal location in Liberty, Missouri, for the company’s violation of the Distributed Generation Certification Program Regulation (DG Certification Regulation) for certification of electrical generation technologies, as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, sections 94200-94214.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff showed that Central Power sold or rented multiple generators in California that did not adhere to CARB’s DG Certification Regulation. CARB documented the violations as they related to the DG Certification Regulation. To settle the case, Central Power agreed to the penalty of $12,625 per violation for a total of $50,500.
Of the total settlement amount, $25,250 in civil penalty will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality. The remaining amount of $25,250 will fund the Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) entitled, Bottoms Up Community Garden Expansion Project, with Black Ag Tech. This SEP aims to establish Bottoms Up Community Garden as a sustainable food producer, resource, and distribution site that provides access to healthy food and reduces the need to travel to distant grocery stores by community members in Oakland.
Central Power is required to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. Central Power fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter.
