Enhanced Electric and Fuel-Cell Vehicle Certification is an optional pathway offered for incomplete medium-duty vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles that utilize a certified Zero Emission Powertrain (ZEP). Manufacturers opting for this certification route must utilize a ZEP family that has either been certified by CARB already or for which the ZEP application has been submitted for certification.
Both Enhanced and ZEP certifications are voluntary. However, certain programs or incentives, such as Advanced Clean Truck and HVIP, may require one or both certifications.
