Planning and Capacity Building
Contacto
What does it fund?
A variety of community-led planning and capacity building projects that increase transportation equity and achieve a community’s vision – including but not limited to projects focused on clean mobility transportation planning, community transportation needs assessments, community capacity building, outreach, workforce training and development, ongoing technical assistance, and other critical community-led clean mobility investment needs.
What are the possible incentive amounts?
The maximum funding amount available for each Planning and Capacity Building (Planning) grant is $500,000. Each applicant is encouraged to request the funding amount – no matter how small – that will efficiently and effectively meet their community’s planning and capacity building needs.
Who is eligible for funds?
Community-based organizations, local governments, and tribes that serve priority populations throughout California.
Are there any recent policy changes?
Planning and capacity building is now a dedicated funding category – previous funding was piloted as part of other projects, including Access Clean California, the Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP), and the Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot (CMO).
How does this program provide benefits to priority populations?
Projects must be located in priority populations and are designed to be inclusive of and center the expertise and voices of people who have been traditionally excluded, extracted from and marginalized in community-based transportation planning efforts.
How do I access funds?
Eligible entities may apply through a competitive Request for Applications. A new RFA is expected to open late 2024.
