Commercial Scenting: An Under-Characterized Exposure Source for Workers and Others

Thank you for all you do!

Please refer to the attached analysis which supports the proposal that commercial scenting appears to be deployed at substantial scale and growing, yet its prevalence in California, primary emissions, secondary chemistry, potential toxic air contaminants, worker exposure, outdoor transport, and health implications appear to be poorly characterized. The request is to include commercial scenting in the 2026 Air Toxics Roadmap as an under-characterized non-diesel source and exposure pathway and support focused research to characterize its use, emissions, secondary chemistry, and resulting exposures (particularly for workers who may be exposed for prolonged work shifts, day after day).
