CARB SB 905 Implementation

It is necessary for CARB to address the Health & Safety Code 39741.1 under SB 905. Through this regulation CARB is being tasked to ensure CCS projects include strategies to minimize copollutant emissions from facilities where CCUS or CDR technology is deployed to ensure it does not have an adverse impact on local air quality and public health in disadvantaged communities. Projects being proposed and moving foward in Kern County have failed to address strategies to minimize copollutants and some will be emitting high levels of copollutants. CCS projects need to be paused and cannot move forward before community protections are addressed and prioritized. CCS projects should aim to reduce pollutants to improve public health, if they don't then they should not move forward. CARB needs to take responsibility for addressing Health and Safety Code 39741.1.
