Durham School Services, LP Case Settles for $129,000
Durham School Services, LP agreed to pay $129,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations. $64,500.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality and $64,500.00 will go to the Placer County School District to fund the installation and maintenance of high-performance air filtration systems throughout the Placer County School District. This settlement was reached in February 2019.
An investigation by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) showed that Durham School Services, LP failed to phase in 100 percent of their school bus fleet with the Particulate Matter Best Available Control Technology requirements by the January 1, 2014 deadline. CARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation. To settle the case, Durham School Services, LP agreed to the $129,000.00 penalty and to comply with the TB regulation and other CARB programs.
