Covey Auto Express Case Settles for $133,800
Covey Auto Express will pay $133,800.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $133,800.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. This settlement was reached in January, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Covey Auto Express failed to bring 33 of their trucks into compliance with the applicable inuse performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Covey Auto Express agreed to the $133,800.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
