Citadel Energy Marketing LLC Settles For $110,000
In May 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Citadel Energy Marketing LLC (Citadel), with its principal location in Miami, Florida, regarding the company’s alleged violation of CARB’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard Regulation (LCFS Regulation), as specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 95480 et seq.
CARB alleged that Citadel did not conform to the requirements of the LCFS Regulation in order to hold, purchase, sell, or trade LCFS credits.
To settle the case, Citadel agreed to the penalty of $110,000. Of the total amount, $55,000 in civil penalty will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality. The remaining amount of $55,000 will fund the Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) entitled Young Lungs | Pulmones Jóvenes (YL|PJ), with Child Parent Institute, which aims to build resilience and health in children by having air quality monitoring and intervention projects for children attending the New Directions School in Santa Rosa.
Citadel agreed to comply with all regulatory requirements going forward.
