Volume IV: Nitrogen Dioxide Monitoring Methods
Air Monitoring Quality Assurance Manual
Appendix A to Title 17 (Section 70100.1) provides the definition of pollutant and monitoring methods for the pollutants. The method for determining compliance with the nitrogen dioxide ambient air quality standard shall be the chemiluminescence Federal Reference Methods (40 CFR, Part 50, Appendix F) and Federal Equivalent Methods for the Determination of nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere.
California Approved Samplers for nitrogen dioxide are set forth in "Air Monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) Manual Volume IV, Part D: Monitoring Methods for Nitrogen Dioxide." Samplers, methods, or instruments determined in writing by the Air Resources Board or the Executive Officer to produce equivalent results for nitrogen dioxide shall also be California Approved Samplers for nitrogen dioxide.
Included below is Part D of QA Manual Volume IV (list of nitrogen dioxide analyzers). Chapter 3 (Measurement of Nitrogen Dioxide) of the technical support document (Review of California Ambient Air Quality Standards for Nitrogen Dioxide, January 5, 2007) is available upon request.
