Welcome to CARB’s free tester training course and exam. The purpose of this course is to prepare you to become a credentialed tester authorized to perform vehicle compliance testing within the Clean Truck Check program. You must complete this training course and score a minimum 80 percent on the accompanying exam to obtain your credential.
This training course and exam educates you on the regulatory requirements and the hands-on testing procedures of each required vehicle compliance test. Obtaining a tester credential also meets the training requirements for the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP).
Please use the link below to register for access to the tester training course, followed by the exam. The training course consists of six modules and will take about two hours to view. The last module includes instructions on how to access the exam and, upon successful completion, how to obtain your Certificate of Completion and unique Tester Identification Number.

Important: Upon successfully completing the exam and obtaining your Certificate of Completion, download, view, and save it before existing the system. The unique Tester Identification Number shown on your Certificate of Completion will be linked to the email address you use to register for the training. You must register using an email address that is unique to you. Do not register using an email address shared by multiple people.
