SACRAMENTO - 

WHAT: The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and its partners will launch Our Community CarShare Sacramento, a clean vehicle sharing program serving disadvantaged communities.

Our Community CarShare provides hundreds of residents at three Sacramento public housing complexes with free access to eight electric vehicles. Six of the vehicles are stationed at the residential communities and two will be available for registered users at the Sacramento Valley Station. 

This program is part of California Climate Investments (CCI), a statewide program that puts cap-and-trade proceeds to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health - particularly in disadvantaged communities. Our Community CarShare is funded through $1.3 million from CCI, in addition to partner contributions.

At this event, the Our Community CarShare Sacramento electric vehicles will be unveiled at a new charging station at the Alder Grove Housing Complex, one of the three residential communities selected for the pilot program.
