ARB Appoints New Members to Its Research Screening Committee

SACRAMENTO– The California Air Resources Board (ARB) on December 10 appointed four new members to its Research Screening Committee. The Board's legislatively mandated Research Screening Committee consists of scientists, engineers, and others knowledgeable, technically qualified, and experienced in air pollution problems.
Chairman, Dr. Alan C. Lloyd, said, "I am pleased to welcome the four new members to the Research Screening Committee. Their expertise is a compliment to the committee and I look forward to working with them on future research projects."
The following are the newly appointed members:
- Lynn M. Hildeman, Ph.D.; Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Stanford University. Areas of Expertise: Aerosol Chemistry, Exposure Assessment and Indoor Air Quality
- William W. Nazaroff, Ph.D.; Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Berkeley. Areas of Expertise: Air Quality Engineering, Air Pollutant Dynamics and Indoor Air Quality
- Amy L. Walton, Ph.D.; Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Areas of Expertise: Economics Theory, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Energy Public Policy, Research Management and Technical Innovation
- Michael Lipsett, M.D., J.D. (Ex Officio); Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, California Environmental Protection Agency. Areas of Expertise: Public Health.
The committee meets approximately six times a year to review proposed and completed research projects that are contracted through the Research Division. The committee is made up of nine members that serve at the pleasure of the Board. This is the first time that the Board had appointed an Ex Officio member, a person that serves as an advisor but cannot vote.
