Staff Air Pollution Specialist

The Emissions Certification and Compliance Division (ECCD) is recruiting for a Staff Air Pollution Specialist (SAPS) for its On-Road Light-Duty Certification Section.  The SAPS will be the lead person for the evaluation of manufacturers' advanced engine and emissions control systems, and for testing to determine if a vehicle have different and/or undisclosed emissions control strategies in laboratory testing compared to customer use in either similar engine conditions or when outside laboratory conditions.

Air Resources Engineer

The In-Use Compliance Section is looking for an Air Resources Engineer to help in ensuring emissions compliance of light and medium duty vehicles and small engines in the State of California. This engineer will have the important job of evaluating Auxiliary Emission Control Devices while emissions testing these vehicles/engines. This position includes Project Management for emissions testing programs, defeat device analysis, and working with the CARB laboratory, outside testing laboratories, manufacturers, and the EPA to facilitate and demonstrate emissions compliance.

Accounting Officer (Specialist)

Under general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the incumbent performs professional accounting work of average difficulty in the Fiscal/Accounting Office's Reconciliations unit. The incumbent analyzes and posts internal and external accounting documents to CARB automated systems and provides customer service support to the Fiscal/ Accounting Office. Review, analyze, and prepare the required monthly reconciliations for the less complex CARB special funds appropriations to ensure fund/appropriations are balanced. Reconcile fund/appropriations balances with records maintained by the State Controllers' Office (SCO) and State Treasury Office (STO). Identify any discrepancies and initiate appropriate action to correct these discrepancies. Provide recommendations to management on any complex issues and discrepancies.
